Changes in Thai Culture

Photo Source: www.chiangmai-chiangrai.com              In the last weekend, I interviewed my mother via the phone (she lives in Chumphon) about cultural changes. She said that there were many things changed but the most obvious field is clothing- it is quite different from the past. Men, in general, wore loincloth (pah-kah-mah), woven (pah-tor) and cotton shirts while women wore wrap-around skirt (pah-sin), Sarong, and long cotton skirts. When she was young, she wore round-necked sleeveless collar(Krachao shirt)with Panung. There were no shirts, T-shirts, jeans, synthetic fiber, or shorts. Furthermore, people were likely to wear in the dark tone, for instance, black, brown, and dark blue but her closet now is teemed with the colorful clothes. People carried the Rattan basket (ta-ka-wai) so as to go shopping at the local market but at the present time people carry leather handbags instead. Moreover, women always wore silver jewelry but they prefer to wear gold Ornamentsand diamond
